Set The Stage For Success: How To Select A Spectacular Event Setting
Choosing a venue is like buying a house. There are so many aspects to consider before signing on the dotted line for your special occasion. Whether you are planning a wedding, bar/bat mitzvah, anniversary party, or baby shower, the venue sets the tone for your event and gives guests a little glimpse into what to expect at your party. As you are researching and touring venues, you need to gather as much information as possible and think about what is most important to you and/or the guest of honor.
Here are some important tips to consider:
Type of Event: Consider what kind of party you will be planning. The scale can range from a simple luncheon to a grandiose gala.
Location: Think about whether most guests are local or will be traveling from out of town. At the end of the day, the guests who want to attend will be there! Make it convenient for you!
Amenities: Depending on the event’s needs, amenities can vary; however, if you are planning a large-scale event, assess the indoor vs. outdoor spaces and the bridal/groom suites to ensure that they meet your needs. Ask about additional fees for these suites as well!
Capacity: While touring the venue, consider whether or not the space can accommodate the size of your event. Remember that floor plans and furniture can be adjusted; however, you want everyone to fit comfortably.
Ambiance: Think about the vibe of your event. Is it classic elegance? Is it bohemian? Is it rustic? Is it glitz and glam? The venue should match your vision.
Cost: Consider whether or not the price per person is within your budget. Remember that there are always additional fees and/or charges for upgrades and different times of year may impact the price. Peak event season is from May - October!
Availability: Make sure that the venue has a few dates available during the time of year you would like to host your event. Remember, nothing is yours unless a contract is signed.
Reputation: Research reviews from previous clients and look for testimonials about quality of service, communication, and reliability.
